Apple Barbecue Sauce

Published by janeybay at 6:38 pm under cooking Edit This

So very sorry I’ve been unable to post much lately. First, we were at freshman orientation for our college-bound twins and were quite busy. Now, we’re on our boat at the lake, and internet access is sketchy, at best. But I’ve certainly not stopped cooking. Everyone seems to get even hungrier on the water, and I’m always looking for cooking shortcuts so I don’t miss out on the fun.

Here’s my husband’s great barbecue sauce, which I promised a few days ago.

Apple Barbecue Sauce

8 oz. of tomato sauce

2 oz. of white vinegar

1/3 cup of brown sugar

1/3 cup of applesauce

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

½ tsp. cumin

A dash of cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper

Hot sauce to taste

Salt and pepper to taste

Mix all together. You can serve it hot, cold or at room temperature. It’s great with anything grilled, but particularly delicious with grilled chicken!
